Installation at the Caracas ART CONTEPORARY MUSEUM
El mundo produce actualmente más de un billón de toneladas de basura al año, la cual crece exponencialmente cada década. En Caracas, debido a la actual crisis económica, hay personas que recogen objetos de la basura para venderlos.
The world now produces more than a billion tons of garbage a year, which is growing exponentially every decade. In Caracas, due to the actual economic crisis, there are people collecting objects in the dumps for resell.
La instalación comprende objetos elaborados a partir de materiales reciclados, representativos de la particular situación que estamos viviendo en Venezuela, testimonio de la cultura de consumo, memoria y evidencia de lo que somos, pensamos y hacemos como sociedad.
The installation contains objects made out of recycled materials representatives of the particular situation we are living in Venezuela, with a raw aesthetics. From an anthropological vision, these objects are considered testimony of the dynamics related to the culture of consumption, memory and evidence of what we are, do and think as a society.
EL TÍMPANO OCULTO / THE HIDDEN EAR DRUM
Para realizar un parque temático por la Paz mundial en Berlín en 1988, un artista alemán sustrae una roca sagrada de 30 toneladas, la Abuela Kueka, tótem y patrimonio de un pequeño poblado de indígenas pemones de Mapaurí, Venezuela. Asegura haber tenido comunicación telepática con la piedra, la cual le pidió irse con él.
In 1998 in order to create a thematic park for World Peace in Berlin city, a German artist bargains a 30 tons sacred rock called Grandmother Kueka, totem and heritage of a little village of indigenous Pemones from Mapaurí, Venezuela. He claims that the rock asked him to go with him.
El artista logra por medios escritos, legales y diplomáticos que se le conceda la roca como un regalo del pueblo de Venezuela al pueblo alemán. Los indígenas protestan y alegan que les fue robada y que no creen en leyes escritas, su cultura es oral.
The indigenous have a non-written culture and they held protests, since the artist achieves to keep the rock throughout written, legal and diplomatic means, granted from Venezuelan government as a “gift from the Venezuelan people to the German people”.
Mediante el desarrollo del performance y la puesta en escena de la instalación sonora El tímpano oculto, el grupo Quinto Aguacate y las Caimaneras expresa su solidaridad para con el pueblo de Mapaurí reforzando los valores míticos de las minorías étnicas. MÁS IMÁGENES
Through the performance and the staging of the sound installation The Hidden Ear Drum, the group Quinto Aguacate and Caimaneras express their solidarity with Mapauri’s indigenous people reinforcing the mythical values of the ethnic minorities. MORE IMAGES

En la Venezuela actual la moto más es que un medio de transporte; constituye un valor fundamental en la construcción de la identidad de gran parte de la población caraqueña, en especial para los practicantes motopiruetas, el llamado el deporte de los barrios. Para los motopiruetistas la destreza física al realizar acrobacias con la moto representa independencia, valentía, una forma de obtener reconocimiento social de una manera digna y pacífica. Actually in Venezuela the motorcycle is more than a way of transport; it has become a fundamental value in the construction of most of the Caracas population’s identity, specially for the practicers of motostunt, the so called sport of the slums. The physical dexterity to perform stunts with the motorcycle represents independence, courage, a mean to obtain social recognition in a worthy and pacifical way. MORE IMAGES
